Why should I see a Neuropsychologist?

Adults concerned with overall brain wellness and cognitive strength can greatly benefit from special testing that monitors your brain function over time. We prepare an individualized brain wellness plan based on your existing cognitive performance. In our practice we commonly help assess difficulties with memory or other areas that may contribute to the diagnosis of various types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Neuropsychology- What is it?

Neuropsychology sounds redundant – psychology already has to do with the brain! Why add the ‘neuro’? Neuropsychology is a form of specialized psychology that requires additional knowledge of the anatomy of the brain, how it works and interacts with other parts of the brain and body, and how to identify its strengths and weaknesses. Neuropsychology experts specialize in disease and brain health that span every stage of life.

What should I bring with me to my neuropsychological evaluation?

If you have received a neuropsychological evaluation in the past please inform our office in advance so that we can arrange to receive a copy. Please bring a list of previous surgeries and a plastic bag containing your current medications.

Do I need to fill out any paperwork?

Yes. Paperwork may be filled out prior to your initial appointment or at our office. Forms are available in advance on the website. Check the "Forms & Policies" section under our "Patients" tab to be directed to the online intake forms. If you would prefer to fill out paperwork in the office, we are happy to provide the necessary forms when you arrive.

Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral to schedule an appointment. However, we do accept referrals from educational institutions, physicians or other healthcare providers and professionals. We are happy to coordinate your care regarding your cognitive health and partner with other professionals.

How long does it take to get an appointment?

We currently are accepting patients on an ongoing basis. Annual brain wellness check-ups and neuropsychological evaluations can typically be scheduled within one month or less.

Why Should I Self-Pay?

This allows our clients to manage the privacy of their diagnoses and treatment. Further, it allows your care to be directed by your healthcare professionals rather than managed care. We want to ensure that treatment with us means catering to your needs and are happy to work with you if you submit your own insurance claims. Please contact our office for more information.

Do we accept insurance?

The Center is accepting Atena, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Magellan, Medicare and United Health Care insurance plans.

How do I decide which service I need, and where to start?

We offer several types of services. Which service is appropriate is determined on an individual, case-by-case basis. If someone has referred you for a neuropsychological evaluation we recommend beginning here. If you are concerned about your cognitive strength overall but don’t have a specific cause for concern, a brain wellness check-up is a good place to start. Please contact our office about which service will best benefit you.
